Psychotherapy

Throughout my working life I have always been involved in working closely with people through providing a service. As a child I wanted to go to sea and work on the cruise liners, which translated into working at the beginning of my career in hotels and catering. Later I worked as a principal lecturer in further, higher and adult education. And for the last 15 years I have been supporting the personal development and growth of individuals and teams within a business and organisational context.

I have always been interested in, and curious about people. Whether it is hearing about individual experiences or getting to know and understand their personal needs, ambitions, thoughts, feelings, behaviours and ways of relating.

In addition, I have always taken steps to continue my own learning and development, particularly in the field of personal development and growth.

It now feels right to take my knowledge, understanding and skills in supporting others in their personal development and growth to a different level.

In order to achieve this I have now embarked on the Advanced Relational Transactional Psychotherapy Programme as a trainee psychotherapist.

Transactional Analysis is defined as:
‘… a theory of personality and systematic psychotherapy for personal growth and change’ [Stewart & Joines TA Today: 1987]
